Yarra Trams employees in hot water after ‘hiring strippers’ for Christmas party

Employees from Victoria’s Yarra Trams are embroiled in a scandal after revelations they hired strippers for a festive season function.

9NEWS understands a social club at the Brunswick Yarra Trams depot organised a party at a restaurant in the city’s inner-suburbs.

Plus-sized strippers- known as “Fat-O-grams”- were arranged to attend the function, which was not classified as a corporate or sanctioned event.

It’s understood that following the event, two Yarra Trams employees made a formal complaints because they “felt uncomfortable”.

Three employees from the organisation have since been stood down pending the outcome of an independent investigation.

“The actions of the event organisers are unacceptable and do not align with Yarra Trams’ values,” Yarra Trams said in an official statement.

“The event is the subject of an independent investigation, which is yet to be finalised. Action is being taken to prevent this from happening again.”
