Estranged leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Motkupalli Narsimhulu has accused the party leadership of conspiring to throw him out of the organisation as he was vocal against the way A. Revanth Reddy handled the party affairs in the past, ultimately causing irreparable loss to TDP in Telangana.
“I have been working for the growth of TDP in Telangana since its formation 30 years ago but the party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has even denied me an appointment to speak to him for five minutes for the last several months. I have not even been invited to the party’s Mahanadu, held here on Thursday,” Mr. Narsimhulu said criticising the leadership.
Addressing a press conference, he stated that he had spent all his energies, time and money including bearing the brunt of ‘lathis’ for the party but the leadership had been ignoring him for strange reasons. He alleged that he was denied Rajya Sabha nomination since he was not as wealthy as the candidates who were nominated and was also denied Governor’s post in the name of movement for special category status for AP. At the same time, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had given Rajya Sabha seats to backward classes in society.
Stating that he was vocal against Mr. Revanth Reddy as he had suspicion about his intentions from the beginning. Mr. Narsimhulu said the TDP leadership, however, believed in him (Mr. Reddy) and he ultimately dumped the party along with several other senior leaders and had joined the Congress. “I was insulted by the party leadership when I invited the President for my daughter’s marriage since I am a Dalit,” he said adding that TDP leadership had ruined the party in Telangana by over-believing in one person.
