Andrea Short is the new executive director of Leadership Prince William, according to an announcement from the organization. Short will take on her new role in January 2018.
“We are thrilled Andrea will be joining Leadership Prince William,” said Mary Finnigan, the chairwoman at Leadership Prince William. “With her volunteer leadership experience and talents in community outreach, media relations and marketing, along with her deep commitment to our mission, Andrea will be a tremendous asset.”
Leadership Prince William is a nonprofit network of community leaders representing governments, businesses and the nonprofit sectors of the Prince William County region.
Short is a lifelong resident of Prince William County. She currently serves as the director of marketing and communications at the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. Previously, she was director of events for the chamber.
“I am honored to have been selected as executive director for leadership Prince William,” Short said. “In the early days of my employment with the chamber, I came to the realization that there was so much I did not know about how our community operates, and the many opportunities for service. The last 10 years have been a journey of continued discovery and deepening passion to serve. I am grateful to the Prince William Chamber for the years of growth and to Leadership Prince William for the opportunity to help equip and launch local leaders.”
Short has been actively involved with Leadership Prince William since 2014. She was appointed as secretary on the Board of Regents earlier this year and she is a class of 2015 Leadership Prince William graduate.
Leadership Prince William’s signature program brings together civic-minded adults for a dynamic 10-month leadership skills development program. The Summer Youth Academy also offers regional middle school-aged leaders a unique leadership and team-building experience over 10 days each summer.
