Ohio employers receive $993,000 in workplace safety grants

COLUMBUS – Forty Ohio employers will share $993,094 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) to purchase equipment designed to substantially reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

“Building a culture of safety across the state is at the heart of our work at BWC,” said BWC Administrator/CEO Sarah Morrison. “Fewer workplace injuries means more Ohioans who are able to put in a productive day’s work and return home safely to their families in the evening.

BWC approved the Safety Intervention Grants in August and September. The recipient employers operate in 24 counties around the state, including:

  • Ashland County;
  • Clermont County;
  • Cuyahoga County;
  • Fairfield County;
  • Franklin County;
  • Greene County;
  • Hamilton County;
  • Hancock County;
  • Hardin County;
  • Holmes County;
  • Huron County;
  • Licking County;
  • Lucas County;
  • Miami County;
  • Richland County;
  • Ross County;
  • Scioto County;
  • Seneca County;
  • Shelby County;
  • Stark County;
  • Summit County;
  • Trumbull County;
  • Warren County;
  • Williams County.

The Safety Intervention Grant program matches an employer’s investment 3-to-1 up to a maximum of $40,000. Quarterly data reports and follow-up case studies measure the effectiveness of employers’ safety interventions and establish best practices for accident and injury prevention.
