New leadership to take social enterprise into 2018

ABILITY Enterprises will take a new leadership team into the New Year after the organisation’s annual general meeting.

Dr Mark Copland stepped down as chair but will continue to serve as director, with Stacey Burrell to take over his position.

Mrs Burrell, who is the chief operating officer at Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, will be joined by Kolleen Koenen-Weir as deputy chair, and Don Carlson will be treasurer.

“This is a really exciting new chapter for Ability Enterprises,” general manager Bruce Russell said.

“We have a tremendous balance of people on the board and Stacey, Kolleen and Don will provide us with a great blend of enthusiasm and experience.”

Mrs Burrell said Ability Enterprises would continue its run of successes from 2017 into the New Year.

“We are currently working towards a new initiative which will give even more local people with barriers to employment an opportunity to engage in employment,” she said.

All board members have done training with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
