Nebraska baseball coach pulls player for celebrating monster HR with a majestic bat flip

Nebraska shortstop Angelo Altavilla hit a mammoth home run during Friday’s game against Indiana. It was a no-doubt shot that nearly cleared the stadium.

Yet, it was Altavilla who would be pulled following the home run for the most ridiculous of reasons.

Upon making contact, Altavilla admired the home run and finished the celebration off with an A-plus bat flip. He savored every moment of the home run, as he should have. The Indiana catcher was furious, though, and followed Altavilla up the line before the umpire intervened.

Nebraska head coach and former MLB player Darin Erstad was evidently just as mad. He greeted Altavilla at the edge of the dugout with a mean staredown.

The Big Ten Network broadcasting crew already predicted Erstad would be upset because he’s the kind of guy who “plays the game the right way” and obviously hates any semblance of personality or emotion. No matter that Altavilla’s home run gave the Huskers a 5-2 lead, Erstad took him out.

The Huskers would go on to win by the same score.
