A man has died in a workplace accident at a mine in Collie, in Western Australia’s South West.
WA Police said at about 11pm on Thursday police were called to the Griffin Coal mine site.
A man aged in his 40s died as a result of his injuries.
Worksafe and the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety will be attending the site.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
It is the second workplace death in WA in the past week.
A construction contractor died at the Woodman Point Wastewater Treatment Plant last Friday.
In a statement Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety of Mines safety director Andrew Chaplyn said: “The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is investigating the death of a worker following an incident at the Griffin Coal mine near Collie south of Perth.
“Mine safety inspectors from the department’s Collie office attended the scene of theaccident early this morning and two investigation inspectors from Perth will join themtoday.
“The department sends its sincere condolences to the worker’s family, friends and co-workers.”
