Newark, NJ—Leadership Newark, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging, empowering, and developing a diverse network of established and emerging leaders will host its 20th Annual Gala on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to raise funds to support the multitude of leadership programs it offers to members of the Greater Newark community.
The Gala will be held at The Avenue A Club in Newark, NJ. Festivities include a program honoring community trailblazers who show the promise of leading the future.
This year’s honorees include Raquel Ray Fraser of M & T Bank, and is also a 2003 alumna of Leadership Newark; Dr. Marilyn Harris of RWJ Barnabas Health; Michele Mason of the Newark Charter School Fund, and Dr. Charles Menifield of the Rutgers University-Newark.

Overall, the Gala is an exciting event that brings together people from around the Greater Newark community that genuinely wants to make a difference, raising dollars for our programs which include the signature public policy fellowship program, our junior fellowship program for high-school aged students, non-profit board service training, and the biennial public policy summit.
Leadership Newark’s mission is to be a catalyst to engage, empower, connect and improve the network of community and civic leaders as they each commit to build, strengthen, and serve for the common good. The various programs the 20-year old organization provides helps develop the skills and knowledge of a diverse network of established and emerging leaders who will collectively and individually enhance and strengthen the vibrancy and future growth of the greater Newark region.
To date, more than 600 community leaders at various stages in their career have participated in the organizations flagship leadership fellowship program, with another 300+ per year participating in the other programs and events. Leadership Newark is the only and most comprehensive nonprofit community leadership program offered in the greater Newark area.
