Driver with kids on board ‘clocked at 235km/hr on highway’

A 28-year-old man is in custody after a car was allegedly detected speeding at 235km/hr on a Victorian highway.

Police said the black Holden Commodore was spotted driving erratically on the Calder Highway, near Bendigo, about 5pm.

It’s alleged the car was going at speeds of 235km/hr- more than double the 100km/hr limit.

Three children, including a baby, were in the vehicle and were not wearing seatbelts, police said.

Officers intercepted the Commodore at a car wash in Ironbark, and it was immediately impounded.

The Lethbridge man allegedly behind the wheel is now being questioned by detectives.

He is expected to be charged on summons with reckless conduct endangering life, exceed speed and other traffic related offences.
